Tata cars are the most famous Indian made cars and Tata Motors is currently the largest automobile manufacturer in India as well as fourth largest truck manufacturer in the world.

Tata (Tata Motors Ltd.) was founded in 1945 after the World War II end by JRD Tata. Other than making cars and trucks, Tata Motors also ranked world’s second largest bus manufacturer.

Tata automobile first rolled out in 1954. The company built its first commercial vehicle in cooperation with Daimler-Benz AG (Company that makes Mercedes-Benz Cars). Tata commercial vehicles gained an immediate success since the 1950s. Despite the success, Tata began to look for further expansion to build other products like subcompact cars and passenger cars.

In 1998, Tata launched its first car, the Tata Indica. It is India’s first fully native passenger car. The Indica became a hit in the Indian market because the car is inexpensive to buy and to maintain. The Indica was also exported to UK and Europe. Indeed, the launching of the car had changed the status of India’s automaker in the world. There are more Tata cars were introduced after the company gained an international automaker image.

  • Inexpensive to buy. Most of Tata cars are famous for their inexpensive price tag. It is cheap to buy. Tata have the world’s cheapest car, the Tata Nano.
