From TVR 2500 to TVR Griffith, TVR cars are definitely not your choice if you are not into sports cars especially lightweight sports cars.

Blackpool-born British sports car manufacturer TVR was founded in 1946 by Trevor Wilkinson. TVR was world’s third largest specialized sports car manufacturer offering sports cars from coupe to convertibles. The name TVR was derived from TreVoR.

Every car marquee has their own generation, same goes for TVR cars. TVR models started with Trevor Wilkinson Era from 1946 to 1967, at that time, notable TVR models are TVR Jomar, TVR Grantura, TVR Trident, TVR Griffith 200 as well as Griffith 400. The company was continue with Martin Lilley Era in 1966 with the introduction of TVR Grantura IV, follow by TVR Tuscan, TVR Vixen, TVR 1600M, TVR 2500M, TVR 3000M, TVR3000M Turbo, TVR Taimar, TVR 3000S, and TVR Tasmin.

1984 is the third era for TVR, it is Peter Wheeler Era. In this era, we saw the birth of some different TVR cars like TVR 280i, 350i, 350SX, 400SX, 350SE, 390SE, 420SE, 450SE, 420SEAC, TVR S, TVR S2, TVR V8S, TVR Chimaera, TVR Tamora, TVR Typhon, and also the reborn of TVR Griffith in 1992. The last era is Nikolai Smolenski Era, only one TVR model available for this era, the TVR Sagaris.

Notable TVR Cars Models

  • TVR 2500 – TVR 2500M is using an engine from Triumph I6. The production year for TVR2500M is from 1972 to 1977.
  • TVR Griffith – It is one of the greatest TVR sports car ever built, there are many people still looking for TVR Griffith for sales although the production has stopped.
  • TVR Tuscan – TVR Tuscan was introduced in 1967. At the same year, TVR Tuscan V8 was introduced and two years later in 1969, TVR Tuscan V6 was debuted. In 1980s, TVR Tuscan Challenge was build as a dedication t the second incarnation of the TVR Tuscan sports car.
  • TVR Tuscan Speed 6 (1999 – 2006) – One of the last few TVR cars. Introduced in 1999 and production end in 2006.
  • TVR Cerbera (1996 – 2003)
  • TVR Sagaris (2004 – 2006)

Other than some of the cars in the list of TVR car models above, there are some other TVR models are still highly regarded by sports car lovers such as 1965 TVR Griffith 400, TVR Chimaera, TVR Speed 12, TVR 280i, TVR Grantura, TVR 5000m.

For many decades, TVR has expanded from UK to many other countries. Indeed, TVR has proven a different way of making great sports cars. Currently there are no more new TVR cars for sale but you are still able to find used TVR cars for sales through some websites like TVR.co.uk.
