Hi all Mini sifu, Ive been using 10" wheel all the time previously and just change to 12" minilite lately. I found the 12" wheel hole is slightly bigger than 10" wheel and the hole is like big to small.. but it still bigger than my 10" last time, so is it normal? I check out some of the minilite for sale also like that, which the hole is bigger.

I use back my 10" wheel nut, and when I drive the car like 5-10km, the nut loosen itself and I have to tighten again. My mechanic said that there is another bigger nut for the minilite? he say alternative way I can go any metal shop to "add on" something to the nut so that it won't get loosen when the wheel spin...

any idea? if there is bigger nut, how much? where can I get it? anyone selling it?
Is the idea of "add on" is good?

my rims like this:

Hi Pok,

The 10 inch rims' taper(the hole that goes big to small) is smaller compared to the Rover 12inch that you have just changed to. Because of this, the nut does not fully tighten(even though it feels tight) the rim onto the drive flange. Please do not use an air hammer as the original Mini nuts will snap. There is a gap and due to the vibration and the rotation of the wheel, the nuts will undo themselves.

Changing your wheel nuts would be the best option. Do keep your original nuts for the 10inch rims. They are hard to find nowadays. Option B looks the best here. They are expensive but a worthwhile investment as every nut is a lock nut and will need a the 'key' nut open. They are made locally and of quite good material..

You cannot use option A as the nuts do not have a taper on them and will only fit flat faced rims. Using them on tapered rims will only gaurantee you broken wheel screws and damage to your Mini.

You can use option C but these nuts tend to rust as they are plated. The last picture shows the nut has very little taper and may not fit your rims.

My guess here

Cheers :D
