Hi Driven to Drive, Thank you so much for your advice.
So far this Mini immediate repairs on Sept 2008 (upon transfer of ownership) the following -
Rear & Front Absorbers Rear & Front Suspension Knuckle Joints Exhaust Mounting L shapred Mounting Front Ball Joint Front & Rear Wheel Bearing Front Brake Disc Pad Drive Shaft Boeet 4pcs Steering Boeet 2 pcs
That's because there is noise coming when the wheels rotate on the road.
Recently had a welder cut the front zeemax body kit arch to prevent the 13inch tyres from rubbing against it when steering is turn full to the right or left to avoid noise coming from it.
The mechanic who has been handling this car for the past 9 months told me the radius arm shaft doesn't break down so easily and he told me since he has been handling the repair thus far, from his experience, the axle should be ok.
He is an old timer mechanic for North Malayan Vintage cars Association and has been mechanic since age 16 to now age 60+.
Another younger mechanic told me the housing axle on both right and left rear is damaged and needs replacement and told me it costs Rm600/- to get from an Indian shop who sells old used parts shop.
So now I am confused. I was introduced to this new mechanic when the Mini broke down and the old mechanic could not answer my sos.
One more thing, when the car broke down, I called AAM to check and they send a tow truck ( first time a small one and then called for bigger tow truck) but could not tow the car due to the zeemax bodykit.
Pl advise, where I can take the car to have this problem resolved maybe by drilling holes into the front or rear zeemax kit to allow the tow chain to be fixed to enable towing.
Thank you in appreciation, kim
