First car invented in the 1920

The first car invented in the 1920 or cars invented in the 1920s are a little bit special because many countries with vehicles at that time already had a better road system including America, UK, or Europe. During 1920s, there are only a few car brands available for sale in the market because it is just the beginning of automobile industry. Therefore, cars in the ‘20s are pretty amazing for us to study.

As it is considered as the beginning of automobile industry, very few car manufacturers are in the market. However, there are several amazing cars were built and a few racing events were organized during that time. Some of the famous car brand founded before 1920 include:

  • Alfa Romeo – Alfa Romeo was founded as Società Anonima Italiana Darracq (SAID) in 1906 but it was changed to Alfa Romeo in 1920 and the Torpedo 20-30 HP was the first car to be named as Alfa Romeo.
  • Aston Martin – In 1922, Robert Bamford & Lionel Martin produced cars to compete in the French Grand Prix and set world speed and endurance records at Brooklands.
  • Audi – Founder August Horch left the company in 1920. In September 1921, Audi became the first German car brand to present a production car, the Audi Type K.
  • Austin – The 1920 Austin Twenty Tourer and 1920 – 1923 Austin 20 Sports Tourer is one of the greatest cars ever built by Austin.
  • Bentley – Founded in 1919 by Walter Owen Bentley.
  • BMW – Not only cars but motorcycles were produced in the 1920s.
  • Bugatti – Bugatti is always famous and ONLY for high-end sports cars. Models in the ‘20s including the 1925 Type 36, 1929 Type 40, 1929 Type 41, and 1929-1930 Type 45/47.
  • Buick – In 1911, Buick introduced its first closed-body car.
  • Cadillac – First car invented in the 1920 including the Cadillac Type 59.
  • Chevrolet – Biggest competitors to Ford during 1920s.
  • Citroën– Founded in 1919.
  • Fiat – Founded in 1899.
  • Mercedes-Benz – Founded in 1886 when the first car invented by Karl Benz.
  • Oldsmobile – Founded in 1897, it is the longest, oldest, and surviving American car brands.
  • Rolls-Royce – Founded in 1904, notable early models including Rolls-Royce 10 hp, 15 hp, 30hp, and Rolls-Royce Twenty.
  • Renault – French car brand founded in 1899.

Some famous car brands that comes within the ‘20s including Ferrari (1929), Chrysler (1925), Jaguar (1922), MG (1924), Volvo (1927).

Ford cars made one of the biggest changes to automobile world during the 1920s due to the system of Fordism that promise to provide cheap and good consumer goods to people at that time. Ford cars were a big success in the 1920s even today. Cheap and high quality cars are what Henry Ford wants to give to the people at that time. That’s where the Ford Model T was born with just $825 in 1908 and the price fell every year until 1920 is was the one of the cheapest car available on planet. At that time, most of the American knows how to drive a Model T. It makes Ford Model T one of the most famous cars in the 1920s and Ford became a leading car manufacturer of affordable cars.
